Maison Margiela
Belgian-born Martin Margiela launched his namesake label in 1988. Throughout his career Margiela opted for anonymity, seldom making public appearances and consistently refusing to grant interviews. In 2009, the ever-elusive designer quietly left the fashion house, following which the line was helmed by its Paris-based design team until the appointment of John Galliano as creative director in 2014. Under Galliano’s mastery, the label continues to expand its artistic expertise. In addition to haute couture, accessories, and ready-to-wear, the house produces a selection of small leather goods, fragrances, and design objects. Famed for its enigmatic approach and avant-garde aesthetic, Maison Margiela continues to push the envelope of modern design.
